Sarah Palin Rally

God Bless America

Last night we...Richard, Yvonne, Susanna, Kent, Laura...

went to State College for a Sarah Palin Rally.

After standing in a long..............line and enduring a chilly

brisk wind, we got our seats and waited another hour...plus...

before she gave her speech. But it was fun and

she is a refreshing person to listen to.

This year's election is probably the scariest yet, and it is

good to know that our God is in control.

Please, God, once again, bless America!

My long distance shots were too dark, so I settled for a shot

of the screen...not very good, but...

The dude by Sarah is Hank Williams, Jr. who "sang" for the evening

entertainment, and I won't express my opinion of that...

Afterward we drove around looking for a place to eat

and since most places were either "unexceptable" or closed,

we settled for Chilies, and enjoyed some rather spicy hot food.

No, it didn't keep us up during the night...I think we were too tired...

Playing in the Leaves

Something every child should have the chance of doing...

and with a little dog to play with you...

that makes it even better...

Let It Snow - Oh No!?!

The first snow of the year greeted me this morning

as I looked out the window - brrrrr...

so I decided to celebrate by using one of my snowman mugs

for my morning cup of coffee.

Hopefully the snow will melt and we will still have some more

nice "warm" fall days. I'm not quite ready for winter to be here yet.

But the first snow of the year is always a little bit exciting,

at least I think so.

Change is Interesting

Moving here from Michigan has created the need for us to observe

and become used to things we never thought much about when in Michigan.

For one thing, a common sight here is horse and buggy, and the sound of the clip clop of horse hooves.

We have also realized we can come upon them suddenly just over the hill or around the next curve in the road, which means slowing down quickly and if possible, passing on a double line...

even the police will allow such an act, I know because I tried, and it worked...whew! :)

And it has also become common to dodge certain spots on the roads where horses have been,

and left their evidence...a bit frustrating at times, but one of those things we have to learn to live with.

Also a common item I have found here is the interesting road signs, and yes, driveway signs:

Applebutter Rd, Toy Cow Lane, Buggy Shop Lane, etc.

We've been here about three years now, and I am still finding these things interesting

to observe and enjoy, all except the horse dung of course. :/

Horses are all around us here, I sight I find quite lovely, and this one watched from his/her window

one day when I took something to Richard at one of his customer's farms.

That day I also desperately wanted to snap a picture of an Amish farmer bringing in his corn

with horse and wagon. But for fear of offending him, I resisted the urge.

Susanna Quinta Engle

Our Teenager

Susanna turned 13 this year and entered the "teenage" stage of her life.

I hope we all survive! She can be a challenge at times but underneath it all

she is a sweet girl with a tender heart and a real love for life.

I pray God will protect and keep that tenderness and her love for Him.

Susanna has strong emotions about some things: one is Jack.

She loves to tease the poor little fellow and her hand of discipline gets

a little strong at times, but he loves her and is very devoted to her.

It makes him very unhappy if she goes outdoors and leaves him in,

or if she goes into her room and shuts the door before he can scoot through.

She is definitely his favorite person around our house.

Another thing Susanna feels strongly about is dill pickles!

She loves dill pickles, especially the ones made from

Grandma Huntoon's recipe.

Susanna also loves the great outdoors, but she is a social person and

so she likes to have someone or something (our dogs) out there with her.

Susanna doesn't do "alone" very well.

I wonder what God has planned for our dear Susie.

Fall Beauty

One of my mum plants that survived last winter.

I can enjoy it every time I look out my kitchen window.

One morning I drove our Amish neighbor over to the next valley

and the fall colors and the sunshine was so very beautiful.

I thought of my dear friend Robyn as I enjoyed the mist on the mountain.

Kids and Grandkids

Friday evening Kent and Laura decided to get away from the Penn View rush

and came up here to the quiet of Mom and Dad's place to hang out and relax.

We joined them in the back yard for a campfire, and then we went inside

to our warm cozy beds and they to their little chilly cozy tent. :)

Skunks, Dogs, and Gun

Early this morning we heard the barking of our dog, which isn't unusual, but this was an "insistent" barking.
Also there was a VERY prominent smell of skunk, even in our bedroom. Richard went to check it out, and
he saw two skunks playing around up the hill a ways. He got the gun and took a shot, but...
We are concerned that we don't have a skunk home in our back shed, because that's where the smell was the strongest. And I have SMELLED skunk around here before....so far I haven't SEEN any. If I happen to get a picture of them, I'll be sure to share it with you, but don't hold your breath.

Leaf Walk

Evie and her children have been with us for the past week,

so we have been enjoying our two grandchildren from Ohio.

We went walking the mountain on a "leaf walk" for

Evie Marie's homeschooling project.

Good exercise and fun, too.
